If you have appointed an exams officer who has previous experience as an exams officer at another centre, they will still require a centre-specific induction
A new to centre exams officer will require support/an induction in the following areas:
- Centre-specific processes/procedures – regardless of previous experience in the role, a new to centre exams officer will need to be made aware of key centre staff, confirmation of their engagement in internal assessments/mock examinations and centre-specific processes (e.g. the method for information gathering, rooms available for examinations and dissemination of results etc.)
- Management Information System (MIS) – it is very likely that your new exams officer will require training if they have not previously engaged with your centre MIS
- Qualifications – if your exams officer has not previously engaged in qualifications taken at your centre, they will need to be made aware of the assessment structure of these qualifications
Once a new to centre exams officer has received the information detailed above, senior leaders/line managers should provide the support as offered to experienced exams officers.
